Custom cursor guides
By Pointer Quill editorial team Current release, published December 26, 2023
These guides expand the Windows pointer-tool install path: Windows zip, extract, safety, first run, file roles, size changes, comparisons, and updates. Cluster pages cover releases, GitHub, and safe download.
Start with the Windows install guide if you still need the zip on disk. Continue with extract, first run, and safety when the exe is already in a tools folder. Comparison and switch guides help when Windows Mouse Pointers already cover part of the job.
Each guide keeps the write phrase visible in the title and lead, then names SimpleCursorChanger only when the zip or exe matters. Cluster pages above the fold cover releases, GitHub, safe download, and this-computer setup without repeating every lab tip.
- Install and extract guides for the first machine
- Safety and first-run guides before you share a loaner
- Compare and switch guides when stock settings almost suffice
- Update and scheme guides for the second week of class
Return to the home install panel when you need the live Release asset button for the verified zip. Off-site project links open in a new tab. Package indexes remain NONE for winget and Homebrew until a future verify proves otherwise.
Technicians can print the Releases URL beside the extract rule and keep Softonic-style mirrors off the whiteboard. Students who only need a larger stock arrow should start in Windows Mouse Pointers before they touch a third-party zip.
When a pack arrives as a folder of oddly named files, rename copies to English roles first. Arrow, Hand, IBeam, and Wait cover most first-week demos. Resize roles can wait until the basics stick.
Update week is a replace-folder operation, not a scavenger hunt across five Desktop extracts. Keep packs outside the program directory so a newer zip cannot overwrite student libraries by accident.
| Guide lane | Start here when |
|---|---|
| Install / extract | The zip is not on disk yet |
| Safety / first run | The exe launches and you need undo |
| Compare / switch | Windows settings almost finish the job |
| Update / scheme | The layout must survive reboot |
